3 Easy Face Mask Recipes That You Can Make At Home

3 face mask recipes

When you’re tired, stressed, or the weather is bad, your skin is usually the first thing to suffer. Cold winds and plummeting temperatures can leave your face feeling red and itchy, and indoor heating can dry out your skin and leave it parched. Eating healthily and moisturising regularly are great ways of keeping skin looking its best, but often that won’t be enough and it’ll need an extra helping hand.

Matcha green tea powder is an excellent ingredient for your skin, and it works wonders when applied to the face. Matcha has antibacterial properties and also contains high levels of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is an antioxidant known for its ability to reduce inflammation and even out skin tone. It’s also packed with antioxidants that can help with acne while improving the skin’s elasticity.

Face masks are super simple to make at home. Here are 3 simple face mask recipes are cheap, easy and all-natural.

  1. The oh-so-simple matcha face mask (for oily skin)

This two-ingredient recipe couldn’t be easier and is a great remedy for oil-prone skin. The lactic acid in the yoghurt dissolves dead skin and tightens pores, so your skin can breathe properly and you can avoid the clogging that causes increased oiliness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp matcha
  • 1 tbsp Greek yoghurt (or a fragrance-free face moisturiser)

Method

  • Mix the ingredients together to form a smooth green paste.
  • Apply to the face and neck and leave for 10 minutes.
  • Wash off to reveal glowing skin that’s tighter and brighter.

  1. Hydrating matcha, coconut oil and honey face mask (for dry skin)

This moisture-boosting mask combines matcha with honey and coconut oil to quench the skin’s thirst while restoring its balance.

Coconut oil is an amazing source of antioxidants and healthy acids, including lauric and capric acids, which fight acne-causing bacteria. Coconut oil also has the power to remove dirt and pollution from the pores, helping to keep skin fresh and clean. And, if that isn’t enough, coconut oil can hydrate and lubricate the skin to improve elasticity and promote healing.

As well as this, honey is a great moisturiser. It hydrates while reducing any redness. Honey can be used to treat burns due to the hydrogen peroxide that’s created by an enzyme in the honey, and it also has great antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp matcha
  • 1 tbsp honey

Method:

  • Mix the ingredients together to form a smooth thick paste.
  • Apply to the face and neck and leave for 10 minutes.
  • Wash off to reveal hydrated skin that’s fresh and full of moisture.

  1. Turmeric and honey face mask (to balance redness)

Turmeric is an excellent ingredient for face masks, thanks to its powerful antioxidant qualities. Its high content of curcumin helps to reduce inflammation and calm redness and blotchiness, leaving the skin looking healthy and balanced. This wonder-superfood-spice is also a great antibacterial ingredient, so acne-prone skin will benefit from it too.

Manuka honey is renowned for its infection-fighting properties, and it’s also useful for reducing scars and reviving tired skin. The added lemon acts as a bleaching agent which naturally brightens the skin, and the acidity cuts through the oils found in the skin. The yogurt balances out the mask by hydrating and nourishing the skin with its concentration of zinc and lactic acids.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp turmeric matcha
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp manuka honey
  • 1 tbsp natural yoghurt

Method:

  • Mix the ingredients together to form a paste.
  • Apply to the face and neck and leave to dry for 20-25 minutes.
  • Wash off to reveal balanced skin that’s healthy and revived.

Matcha Green Tea Powder Face Mask Recipe

Matcha Green Tea Face Mask Recipe

Matcha is an excellent ingredient for the skin as well. Matcha is anti bacterial and contains incredibly high levels of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is helpful in reducing inflammation and to even skin tone. The antioxidants are also known for reducing acne and increasing skin elasticity.

Either way, this mask is so simple to make and leaves skin feeling like silk. I use several face masks regularly and this is one of them.

This two-ingredient matcha face mask is very simple to make.

  • 1 Tsp Zen Green Tea matcha
  • 1 Tablespoon Greek Yogurt (or alternatively a plain face moisturiser)

Directions

Mix together thoroughly to form a bright green paste. Apply to face and neck and leave for 10 minutes. Wash off to reveal brighter, tighter and glowing skin!

Note: There are so many different types of matcha face masks you can make- many customers love just honey and matcha or matcha mixed with coconut or argan oil. If your skin is dry use more of an oil based mask, if it’s got acne use honey, or if you have oily and dry skin a greek yogurt mask would work best!
